WHY
Strength Training?

As we age (and I'm talking starting in our 30s, ladies), our bodies literally deteriorate (I hate to break it to you).  Our bone density declines, our skin becomes less elastic, we are more apt to store fat, our nervous system becomes less reactive, our cells function less efficiently, and our lean muscle mass declines.

Building and maintaining lean muscle mass is critical to help slow this deterioration.  Loss of muscle mass is associated with:

  • lower metabolism

  • increased fat storage

  • insulin disruption and risk of diabetes

  • osteoporosis

  • hormonal imbalances

  • strength, balance, and coordination issues

  • neurological issues, including depression

YOUR DAY FEELS BRIGHTER NOW, DOESN'T IT? (full sarcastic tone)

STRENGTH TRAINING helps to minimize and potentially eliminate the risk of these issues.  While we can't stop our bodies from aging, there is empirical evidence that we do have control over slowing it down!

By the way, once we hit menopause, it's even more difficult for our bodies to respond to exercise the same way it used to.  So, if menopause seems light years away, you have time to arm your body for battle.  And if you are menopausal or post, it is NOT too late.

It's NEVER too late to get strong!
